He offered his service to the MacDougall Brothers. Gwen did find the Layline and reached his goal of supreme knowledge and felt he no longer had to live and he faded away--happy. |

| The artificial intelligence that serves as the computer of the Outlaw Star is known as Gilliam. By virtue of being the computer of the most advanced ship in the galaxy, Gilliam is rather proud of "his" ships abilities. He is able to service the ship thanks to countless small cylindrical workers, one of which Jim painted pink to distinguish it from the others. This incarnation of Gilliam is often carried with Gene and co. while they are outside of the ship. |
| Gene's Dad-Gene's father was a pilot who was teaching Gene how to fly their spaceship when they were attacked by pirates. His father pushed him into the escape pod, but in the process sacrificed himself, leading to Gene's lifelong hatred of pirates |
