Snake Devotion |
Written By: Dan Petfield Last Wednesday I used the snake/mountain man devotion that was posted on Rangernet earlier this week. I get all the boys from each age group together for opening ceremonies. We do the pledges, announcements etc. Awhile ago, I noticed that some of my commanders were a bit lacking when it came to the devotion time. So as Sr. Commander, I felt that I had to keep all the boys together and present the devotion to the whole group after opening ceremonies. I know that they enjoy this time because I mostly have their undivided attention - including the commanders. Anyhow, when I got to the part about the snake talking back to the man, and the snake asking to get into the mans jacket, I got a few funny looks from the commanders. (I guess they didnt trust me) When I got the end of the story and showed the boys how the snake represented sin, the commanders and boys realized what was happening. It was beautiful to see nearly all the boys raise their hands to ask Jesus to forgive them of their sins after that story. |
