what the hell is '21st Century Ox'?
21st Century Ox is a young original band from the south-west of Victoria, Australia.
what style of music do you play?
we like to think of it as a mix of different styles, however, if you had to classify us I would say we are alternative/rock/funk/fusion/beat/groovers.
who are your 4 main musical influences?
Harry: Trey Spruance (Mr. Bungle, Secret Chiefs 3, etc), Directions In Groove, John Zorn.
Matt: Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Muse, NIN.
Dion: Dion...DION!
Brendan: Frank Zappa, Mr. Bungle, Deven Townsend, Jaque from weather report.
Hewy: We'll get back to ya!
have you recorded anything?
yes. our album 'what am I going to do with all these portaloos?' has been out for 12 months at least!! (Where have you been?) and our new album entitled "The Last Sane Man On Earth" will be out hopefully in August 2003.
how did you meet?
we all went to the same high school, in the same year except Dion was a year younger, and Hewy a year older. Matt and Brendan played together for years in various bands, in similar circles to Harry's bands. around 1999 Dion began making music with Matt and Brendan, but it wasn't until they needed a drummer in April 2000 that four were united. Many a year later (actually only 2 years later) Matt Hewson was recruited, adding a new perspective to the music.
so what other bands have you played in?
Harry: Legion, Defused, Threepwood, Boogie Nites.
Matt: Ted Dancin', Ritalin, ???.
Brendan: Ted Dancin', Ritalin, Virus (Breach), W'bool College Band, and more?
Dion: Dion's Fab Foursome, The Dions, D.
Hewy: [Too Many!] Hot Tamale Baby, Piffen Yonnies, The Frisky Go Cats, and many more.
what is the matrix?
it's a cool movie, but that's not important right now.
where can I get some matrix info?
why the sudden interest in the matrix?
i dunno. It just seemed like...
how about some more ox related questions?
okay then...like, who have you supported dude?
george, superjesus, 28 days, motorace, the list goes on...
why?
i dunno... but if there's a problem it's probably matt's fault.
