venue: The Smell date: 8-3-01 bands: Whatever It Takes, Stop And Think, Carry On, Over My Dead Body, No Reply Fuck traffis going to L.A. It freakin suck sssssooo bad, it took like three hours to get down there. When we got there the guy who was runnung the place was like Whatever It Takes is playing, oh! I didn't know that. But Whatever It Takes ended up playing anyways, which was a good thing, it wasn't as good as the night before in Ojai but they were good. I think it was because there was more people. I thought there would be more people there considering the fact the we showed up an hour late. We had the ten foot diameter circle pit going on!!!!!!!!!!!! haha Up next was Stop And Think from Boston. I figured out what was so weird about them from when I saw them the night before. Their singer trys to hard to be like Sweet Pete from In My Eyes. It was just really funny, it wasn't a really bad thing but you think he wouldn't try so hard to be like someone from the same hardcore scene as him. They played all the same songs, they only had like 6 I think. So up next was Carry On. They played all the good mosh songs. Everyone was singing along and having a good time, it ruled. Over My Dead Body was up next, and man was I stoked, it had been a while since I had seen them. At the beginning of their set I busted a mad stage dive off of the top of the speaker, it was rad. I think Daniel passes the mic out to every single person in The Smell ever if they weren't sing along. They had their new guitarist there, and it was his first show. As far as I could hear he did fine. All of a sudden there was like 100 people there where as before there was only about 50. But they ruled, they played a couple of their new ones so be looking forward to their new recording which is coming out soon. No Reply played last. Oh man!!!!!! No Reply put on one of the best shows ever!! They were absolutely amazing, I was taping so I got to see the whole thing. I think pretty much everybody was circle pitting and everyone else was singing along. Man it was rad. I even had a great time just watching!! For the last song though I had to put it down and sing along. In between everyone was heckling the shit out of Dave. It was funny because he would say something back and everyone would laugh. All in all a grerat time. |
