date: 2-9-02 bands: In Control, Welcome To Your Life, Countervail, Bane venue: Chain Reaction, Anaheim In Control and Bane in the same show!! I was stoked especially cause I had missed all the other Bane In Control shows that they played together. Me Brian, Adam, and Steve all went together, we got to OC at like 630, so we had a little time to eat. We went down the street a little to Pizza Town/Jiggle Juice, and ate the best fucking pizza that Ive ever had...ever!! The pizza was amazing, I recomend it to everyone. Anyways, so then we went and bought our ticket..good thing, cause it almost sold out. I think there was probably like 450 kids there or more. It was pretty packed, and I was preety excited! So when we got in at like 730 or so, we had to wait till like 800 for IC to play. And this would also be the first time that I would see IC as a five piece, with new guitarist and bass players, Jason and Javier. So they finally started up, I forget what they started out with, but it had the place moving, and everyone dancing. The whole set, there was like 10 or 15 people singing along and the NARD kids trying to keep it real in the pit, except for like some wannabe tough as guyd from OC, that thought every mosh was for them to spinkick kids in the head and just basically wreck eveeryone in sight. Which is really lame, and kinda put a damper on the thing..not IC's performance, but, what could have been an even way more kick ass performance. I can totally understand the hometown pride, and how those kids want to keep it real, and show respcet for a band that comes to their hometown, but they were just out to wreck everyone. Whatever, Im not going to complain about it, but thats just another reason why I believe that Ojai is the best venue, Ive ever been to. IC played the normal 3 song thing. Ryan had some cool stuff to say, about how basically about how the core is so amazing that he wouldnt trade it for anything, because he loves it and shit, pretty cool shit. I tend to enjoy IC just the same with their new member changes and was really glad to see some many kids get the oppourtunity to listen to them, if they havnt already. Up after Ic was Welcome To Your Life, from OC. Which is basically the old Show Of Hands, I like Show Of Hands a lot lot better, but. I just think that Welcome To Your Life is another one of those metal/hardcore bands that plays to the same kids. Its really nothin that I havnt heard before, so I didnt watch them. After them was Countervail from T.O. Good band, thats been together forever, Im just not into them that much I guess, I never really have been. Im really into a couple of their songs, just not enough to suppport them. I listened from outside for the whole set, kids seemed to be going off, so good for them. Bane was last..good thing, cause I was really tired. They kinda took a long time to set up, but no problems. Bane decided to write no set list up, and just listen to requests from people, which is pretty bad ass. They played basically all the songs that they have played in their other shows, just in a different order. I would have liked to hear, more of their old stuff, like all the songs from "Holding This Moment" but what can one guy do..not much..haha. Dont get me wrong, I guess Ill settle [sarcasm] gor the other ones but I like "Holding This Moment" the best. Everyone was going off tons of mosh, and there was like 50 or 60 kids singing-along up front. It was pretty amazing show from an even more amazing band!! LATE |
