DIEHARDYOUTH         INTERVIEW
picture by: Stephanie Good, from diehard website
Okay here is the interview with Diehard Youth, I finally did it, I have been really lazy lately.  Personally I think Diehard Youth is one of the best bands around here right now, and I think they deserve more attention. The interview was done with Andy Diehard so later on enjoy!!!!

>-Who is in the band, and what do they do?
>eric slammo on the drums, dave hard on guitar, monster T on bass and
andy diehard on vox
>-What does the name Diehard Youth mean?
>to us its about staying young.  not letting go of the the qualities that
>you have before you grow up and try to live life everyone else think you
>should.  its kinda like when your young and everything is fresh and new.
>thats what its about
>-How did you get into hardcore music?
>it was about 4 years ago. my best friends i grew up with got me into it.  i
>went away for the air force and when i came back they were into it.  we
>started out listening to some lame records.  its funny when i think back to
>thoose days.  alot has changed in that short time
>-Best show you have ever been to.
>i would say the camel clutch show in santa barbara.  the vibe at that show
>was so rad.  all the kids went off for every band.  and every band was
>cool.  their is even a live 7" from that show.  then i would have to say
>when kill your idols, and in control played in my garage.  that ruled.
>-What does Diehard Youth generally sing about in their songs?
>well our older stuff was pretty posi.  i wrote every song trying to be
>uplifting in some way.  lately ive been pretty pissed and bummed about alot
>of stuff.  ive also been writing about more serious topics that mean alot
>more to me.  so our new song may not be as posi but their is a reason
>behind every song. -How is the Tehachipi [spelling] hardcore scene right
>now?
>tehachapi hardcore is in effect.  its a small town in central cali.  their
>is actually like 7 bands here to.  the warriors and no time to die are
>rippin the local set.  the kids here rule to.  they support not only
>tehachapi but every show they can get to.  its kinda like oxnard.  Nardcore
>and tehachapi are taking over.
>-What can we be expecting from you guys in the future? [releases, shows]
>well we have a split 7" coming out on kick down records.  thats with lines
>of scrimmage.  the split is in the works right now.  were are also going to
>be recording for an ep on 6 weeks records.  we are excited about that.  6
>weeks put out the in control cd and are kind enough to help us.  so word to
>6 weeks.   as far as shows.  we are playing some shows with american
>nightmare, THE FIRST STEP, and STAY GOLD.  we just played with champion
>(they rule)  also we are playing the in control record release so that
>rules.  we have other shows here and their. check our website for that
>info.
>-Do you see any importance in talking between songs?
>ya because i get tired and would die if we didnt take breaks.  sometime i
>ramble but i try to keep focused and say something very insightful and life
>changing.  ok not really but i think that sometime things need to get said.
>-How did your west coast tour go?
>well went only made it up to seattle.  but it ruled every show was gnarly.
>especially seattle.  one of the best scenes ive ever been exposed to.  ill
>never forget that show.
>-Is Diehard Youth a christian band?
>well we are Christians.  but were not a "christian" band.  i dont preach at
>kids.  i do sometimes say "hey im christian and this is what i do"  cause
>to many christian and non christian kids are at odds. and that sucks.  they
>stay in their on little scene and never get exposed to alot of rad bands
>with good things to say just because they arent the same religion.  wreck
>that.
>-Do you think maybe you lose some supporters by being "posicore"?
>i dont know.  i think we might loose the metal dark over lords.  but who
>cares.  we dont run around saying "be posi"  were just doing our thing.
>when we made our posters we were just starting and didnt really want to be
>generic "california hardcore"  so we put posi-core.  i hope kids look past
>that before making a judgement.
>-What do you enjoy most about the hardcore music scene?
>so many things.  the energy.  the feeling i get at a show.  all the friends
>ive made.  traveling.  their is nothing like it.
>-If I opened your CD player right now what would you be listening to?
>lets see i got some  in control, carry on, champion, fields of fire, chain
>of strength, dagnasty,  i think in my car i got some run dmc, beatles and
>u2.
>-When people see you guys, is there a certain message that you would like
>to convey to them?  Like after someone see's you guys they think "Wow these
>guys are".......
>i hope they say DAMN!  i just want kids to dig the show.  being on stage is
>like being in a zone.  i just let loose.  we all let loose.  terence and
>eric are the best.  i love to watch them jam.  -What is your definition of
>straight edge and what does it mean to you?
>straight edge.  is not drinking, doing drugs or smoking.  im not going to
>lie and say i have never done some of thoose things.  i really dont preach
>about that either.    im not try to make it something less.  but it has no
>effect on how i choose my friends or music.  i know alot of kids who are
>edge to the core.  and that is rad.  i think each person should live for
>themselves.  i think it sucks when non-sxe kids dog sxe kids and think it
>sucks when sxe kids dog non-sxe kids.  i know their are good and bad kids
>on both sides so their is reasons behind the drama.  i think we should all
>get along, were all in the same gang.  do it for the core.
>-Is there anything else that you wnat to add?
>ya thanks for doing this interview.  i just want to say whats up to
>everybody who supports diehard youth or any other hardcore band.  support
>your local scene.  long live nardcore and tehachapi hardcore.  feel free to
