Okay this interview was done with CMO from Virginia, they play a youth crew mosh stle hardcore, and here is their interview done via email Kevin, so hope you enjoy! And if you have any questions email me and ill awnser. First off, who all is in the band and what do they do? colin, garth, pete, charlie, jason. who play drums, guitar, guitar, bass, and sing respectively. colin is from time flies. pete used to play drums for the band (he played on the 110 lp and the ep) however, we needed a guitar player so he stepped up and colin filled in on the beats. What have you released? a cd with ambassador which was pressed in vinyl form by malfunction records (a limited edition sort of thing) and an lp released on indecision records "110" How did you get into the hardcore scene? my brother brought me to shows after going skateboarding in downtown richmond va If I opened your CD player right now what would I find? you would find texas is the reason, turning point discogrophy, beyond lp, the new jimmy eat world, and everything by quicksand. What's with the name? Count Me Out? How did that come about? we were listening to the beatles one day and they have a song where they say "count me out". we thought that would be a tuff name being that we are all straightedge. How did you get picked up by indecision? kurt from time flies really pushed us to them. we heard good things about the label so we really pushed to get on it. and then we got really lucky...hahaha What's the best show you have ever put on? im not sure, i'd like to say that we always bust ass to put on a good show (though we usually fail at it..hahahaha) but one show that sticks out in my mind would be positive numbers or gilman st. this summer. both shows just had a really fun feel to them. they we're neat. Does you try to relay a message to the listeners through the lyrics of your songs? jason really tries to just have it out with himself in his lyrics. i think he just wants people to take them for what they are. i mean always read into lyrics. a lot of time you can find something that really is relevant to you when you do so. this can make a song you like into a song you love. often when we are writing music jason will sing something just kinda' testing out the placements of different lyrics and ill stop and be like "what did you just say there?". i can usually find a lot of release with jason' lyrics which really makes being in this band fun. so, we don't have any motives politically or what not in this band. we don't write songs like "this part going to be about sufferage and this part is going to be about voter turnout in rural areas..blabblah. you have to talk about what you know in your lyrics Do you feel the live shows or the albums are the key to your succes? touring is the key to success. i feel we tour a lot for a hardcore band. weare all in school but we do spring break, summer break, and weekends. however, we plan to try to start doing some supporting tours to get out to a bigger crowd. Being on the road can be tough on peoples relationships, how have you managed to stay friends with all the members of CMO after all this time and all those tours? it's funny, we've become better friends through touring. we all take about a day to two day break from eachother after tour. and then we are all hanging out again. everyone in this band i consider to be a really close friend so we argue sometimes like brothers and then get over it. being in a van with 5 people for a twenty hour drive is pretty hard. you get really good peopleskills though..hahaha Finally, what can we expect from CMO in the future? we just finished up a month of touring so now we are going to rest a bit and finish writing our next lp which we record in december. im really excited about the songs we have written so far. the direction we are going is exactly the kind of music i want to be playing. keep an eye out for that. thanks for the interview |
