Okay this interview was done by Ricky, it is about the Hope Conspiracy. Thanx a lot to Rick for letting me use it, and The Hope Conspiracy. Hope you enjoy it ans stuff, and if you have any questions talk to me. rick... heres the interview..... first of who all is in the band and what do they do? the band consists of jonas feinberg on bass, dan zimmerman and aaron lisi onguitars, kevin baker on vocals and adam patterson on drums What have you released? so far the hope conspiracy has released a demo/7" and ep that was on liferecords, a full length on equal vision records, and a black flag cover split7" on initial records How did you get in to the hardcore scene? well, i got into the hardcore scene of course through a friend of mine thatwas really into it. he invited me to a show and i was really interested. and all these years later, im still going...im such a loser, just kidding. If i opened your cd player right now what would i find? right now i have the rival schools record playing, its a great piece of work Whats up with the name? The Hope Conspiracy? how did that come about? well back in the early 80's there was a police tour called the conspiracy of hope tour...and the guys here sort of rearranged it into the hope conspiracy.everyone always comes up and asks if its some sort anti religious statement. we just let everyone make their own conclusions to it. how did you get picked up by EVR? well, basically they listened to the ep that was released on life records and it all just fell into place from there. i think a couple of the guys knew some people over there as well, so that helped out. what was the best show you have put on? wow, tough question. theres been so many good shows that weve had a chance to play. we just played a show out here in mass at the skate fest. this show was amazing. it was probably the best response we have ever had in our home state, so that felt really good. we also had a great show in DC on the evr tour. Do you try to relay a message to the listeners through the lyrics on yoursongs? i dont know if we have a particular message in our music. everyone in thisband thinks a little differently. we dont put out any strong political message, or any standpoint on what we eat because again we all think differently....so i think our lyrics basically come down to doing things for yourself and finding out what works for you, not what other people say should work for you. do you feel the live shows or the albums are the key to your success? well, i dont know how much success weve had to this point. but i think they both sort of work hand in hand. i feel live shows are extremely important. when a live show doesnt go well, you can see it in us. we all expect the best from ourselves when we perform. but if your records arent any good, then there wont be people to see you play anyway. so we really cant rely on one to be strong without the other. being on the road can be tough on peoples relationships, how have you managed to stay friends with all the members of The Hope Conspiracy after all these times and all those shows? have you ever met our roadie, max? haha, hes the reason we're friends. but when hes not around...i think we really all just give eachother a lot of shit on the road, playing around of course. i think everyone in the band has a pretty good sense of humor and we find ways to keep going. being in a van with the same five other people can drive you crazy sometimes, but its all worth it. Finally what can we expect from The Hope Conspiracy in the future? you can expect us to kick your ass in your hometown soon enough...along with a new ep that comes out at the end of september on bridge nine records and a new full length early next year on equal vision records...thank you rick for the interview. |
