The pig was caught by a group of us that tracked the sow and a bore for around 3-4 hrs. We were all a bit worried by the size of the tracks from the bore they were bigger than the sows by far . We decided to brake up into 2 groups and see if we could get them a bit faster not long after that Barry (in the picture) sung out and all the dogs followed and we got the sow but the bore got away. Then two of the guys went back to get the 4WD and Barry and I stayed with the sow. Then I had to go and find a road or track so the guys in the 4WD could find us I walked for about 5 min and found a track. The whole time I was shitting myself thinking that the bore would come at me and I didn't have any dogs or a knife with me. Thankfully he must have kept going and I never saw him.

The sow weighed 99.5kg

PS: It was the best Roast Pork I have ever tasted

This is a photo of me with the first pig my dog Koota got while on a trip at Mildura. The pig weighed 80kg and had not to bad tusks. (good effort for a first timer).

Thanks very much and keep up the good work, I'll stay tuned and send you some more

I've got some new dogs, one in particular a Johnson Bulldog he is about 20 mths old and has been well and truly initiated into the pig hunting world. I could do a dog review for your site if you would like as many people have many questions about the breed.
Attached are some photos that I would really love to see on your site.

Thanks

Editors Note: I have been hearing more and more about these dogs amongst fellow pig hunters in Australia over the last couple of years. I reckon we might get Steve to do a review of these dogs for this site. In the meantime, if anyone would like to find out more about these impressive pig hunting dogs please email Steve direct at
