Title:Vacation in Vegas
Author:Grace
Mom, this suite you booked us in is incredible."
She said, not believing she was in Las Vegas
for Christmas.
"Honey, relax. I know this is not what you
wanted. I'm meeting an important client
tonight. Here's a ticket to see a show I was
planning on going to, but you take it." She
smiled, kissing her daughter on the forehead.
"Thanks, Mom." Just great. Guess I'm going
to a show tonight. Now what am I going to
wear?
A few hours later Buffy came down dressed in
a long, black dress which was tight, but made
her look very nice indeed.
Now, which way to Excalibur?
"Oh, Miss Summers. Your mother arranged for
you an escort tonight." The clerk said to
Buffy.
"Hello there ,stranger." She recognized the
voice instantly.
"Oz, it's so good to see you." Hugging her
friend. She had misssed him.
"So, shall we go to the show?" he asked her.
She nodded her head so happy to see a
familiar face.
"Oz, what are you doing in Las Vegas?" Buffy
asked, curious as to why he was here.
"Well after what happened with me and Willow,
Devon suggested we go to Las Vegas."
"I've missed you Oz." Things hadn't been the
same since he left.
"Buffy..." he softly said, holding her hand
in his. "I've missed Sunnydale, but you were
the one I missed the most." She let him say
goodbye without any questions.
"Really." She was so surprised he missed her,
instead of Willow.
"Yes. You never question my reasons. All you
ever did was let me go. I needed that more
than anything else." He closed his mouth,
even though he wanted to tell her at that
moment he had always wanted her.
"I remember that feeling. When I ran away
from Sunnydale, it was like someone gives
you a new start." Oz needed to be free
from all the guilt that Willow had put
on him.
"No labeling is nice. You are not defined by
what you do, but by who you are." Willow never
understood what being a werewolf meant, but
Buffy did.
"Labels don't define who you are. I thought
that all I would be was a slayer. Yet I
realized by watching you Oz, that there
was more to life than just doing your
duty." Both of them wanted to be seen as
more than a werewolf and a slayer.
"There is so much more to both of us. Willow
never really saw me as a man. I always saw
a beautiful woman in you." He was sick
of Willow. She never let him be who he wanted
to be.
"Willow hurt you very deeply, Oz." Hating to
see the pain in his eyes, she lightly brushed
her fingers along the palm of his hand.
"Yeah, she did Buffy. That's one of the
reasons I came here. I'm glad you are
here now."
"I am very glad that I came here." She was
beginning to feel they had a lot more in
common than they ever thought.
"Oz, what is wrong?" Buffy asked her date for
the evening.
"I'm feeling bored." Oz placed his hand over
Buffy's. "Do you want to leave?" He whispered
in her ear. The show wasn't all that exciting
anyway.
"Yes, I want to leave." She couldn't concentrate
on the show when he kept touching her and whispering
in her ear like that any way. Besides, being
alone with Oz right now would be so wonderful.
"I want to show you my special place." Oz
whispered quietly to her.
"Oz, you don't have to do that." Buffy said as he
slowly went to the rack and put Buffy's coat
over her.
"Relax, I want to." He knew that she was going
to love his special place.
"I don't know what to say." She knew that
things were changing between the two of them,
and she was glad.
An hour later, Buffy and Oz find themselves
in a valley overlooking all of Las Vegas.
"Oz, this view is beautiful." Buffy said
taking in how everything seemed so small.
"I come here every once in a while, when I
need to take a break from real life." Oz
told Buffy, taking in her her beauty and
how she seemed so full of interest in him.
"All of us need to take a break sometimes. I
don't do it all that often. This makes us
look so tiny and insignificant. Sort of puts
things in perspective."
"Yes, it does, Buffy." Oz leaned in closer,
deciding quite suddenly to kiss her.
The kiss was full of passion and a desire so
strong, that it took the two of them both my
surprise.
"Oz, we can't..." She didn't want to hurt
Willow.
"Willow and me are in the past. I want to
move on with my life." His eyes were full of
truth that she realized that maybe this was
what life wanted and dictated.
"Yes, but I think we should proceed very
slowly."
"Agreed." Oz said.
They spent the rest of the night in each
others arms, star gazing.
The End.
