 ~*~*~*~

The remaining vampires knew what had happened, they just knew. Their memories
had subtly changed, and for the better.

But nothing major had happened yet. Nothing to show that Graham had made the
right decision a hundred years ago.

"It could be worse, love," Spike said to Buffy. "We could have Red or someone
 else here now, instead."

"I know, Buffy said, still wearing a disturbed look on her face. It was
almost sunrise, and the air outside was warming. In a few minutes, the
vampires would have to retreat to the darkened home.

"Well," Drew said, "even though Graham's not here, I think we can still do
some things right." She looked over at Jenna, who'd joined them a few minutes
before they went outside. "I can patrol now. I know I can."

"Not alone you won't," Spike said with an icy finality.

"And why not?" Drew said, standing up to his full height. "I'm the Slayer.
Now that Buffy's here, you guys can stop treating me with kid gloves." She
turned away and stood off the porch, where the sun would start to shine in a
few minutes. "I can patrol, I can fight, I can even do it alone."

Spike started to reply, but Jenna silenced him by putting a hand over his
mouth. "She's right, you know."

"Not exactly," Buffy said. "Drew, it's always nice to have some help in a
patrol. In case there's a lot of vamps."

Oz nodded. "Yeah. Even Buffy can get overwhelmed. That's why she had us
Scoobies around."

Buffy looked at Oz with a smile. It had been a long time since anyone other
than Spike had used that term. "And you have your own Scooby Gang. Angel,
Spike, Jenna, Ewan...where is Ewan, anyway?"

Tsar surveyed his domain from the window. Three minutes till he had to pull
away, get back into the comfortable safety that was the mansion. Eddie was
posturing and posing, acting like the idiot he truly was.

"Stop that, Eddie," Tsar said sharply, coldly. He'd had enough of minions as
idiotic as that one, but right now, they made the bulk of his minions.
Beggars can't be Choosers, he realized sadly, and right now he had to have
all the minions he could.

"He's only playing," came the plaintive feminine voice on the other side of
him. Drusilla looked up. "He's dancing with the stars for me," she added
quickly, forgetting that Tsar thought she was still totally insane.

Tsar nodded and looked at Eddie. "Well, continue!"

Drusilla smiled, a dreamy smile on her face that held her complete revulsion
for the man next to her. He sickened her, and his quest for power...that was
the only reason she was with him. She wanted that power.

But by no means was she going to share it with him.

She missed the days when she and Spike terrorized Buffy and her friends,
Angel included. She realized she really was just attracted to the power
Angelus had, not him. Truth be told, she'd rather have been with Spike. he
was a much better and much more considerate lover.

"Drusilla, time for us to sleep," Tsar said softly, taking her arm at the
elbow.

"The stars aren't tired," Drusilla said.

"But I am," Tsar said a quaint smile on his face. "Why don't I get some sleep
and you and Eddie go into the library?"

Drusilla nodded, dragging the other vampire out of the room. Suddenly there
was not one but two transformations. "Drusilla," Eddie said with no trace of
his feigned stupidity in his voice, which was barely above a whisper. "Have
you been able to contact Spike yet?"

She shook her head as they entered the library. "No, Edward, I haven't." She
looked around. "Ewan! Where are you?"

Ewan walked out from behind a stack of books. "I still have my stake," he
said angrily.

"Oh, you know how Tsar operates," Drusilla said, rolling her eyes. "If one of
his vampires had caught you, you'd have seen him by now, and then you'd be
dead."

Ewan approached cautiously. "Then why am I here?"

"I need you to be a messenger for me. To Spike."
