Car bras and 3M clear body protectant

bras, painting [850][93]

This is my third Volvo ('78 242 gt,'90 740) and is the best all around,
but...either the paint is not as high of quality on the hood or these things were
not meant for high mileage, I am sitting at over 250000 km right now. Does any
body have input on the bras available? I know carbras.com has one, there must
be some others...what fits the best? thx

I have the clear 3M bra on the front and on the side-mirrors. It is incredible! It
has taken a rock beating but never let anything through to the paint.

               Chris,
Are you talking about the tape? If so, have you tried to remove it, or notice any
               discoloring?
               Thanks,

               KC,

Yes, I believe it would be considered a tape. It is clear (see-thru) and you can't
even tell it is there from a few feet. Has been on for 3+ years now. No
discoloration at all. The car is white and I would have expected some
yellowing. It does spend quite a bit of time in the sun also.

I have not had to remove it yet although I do need to replace it on the drivers
side mirror as a rock recently to out a grape-sized nick all the way to the paint
(paint on the other hand was not damaged). I will know then how easily it
               removes.

I highly recommend it to any bra on the market.

               Chris

Thanks Chris, now how difficult was it to apply without bubbles, wrinkles,
etc?!? Did they recommend removing all wax prior to install? Thanks again!

               KC,

Did not do this myself so I wouldn't be able to reply. 3M provides a lifetime
warranty that travels with the car, not the owner. This, for me, is worth having
               it installed professionally.

Thanks to (another) Chris  for this recent update on the source of 3m info;

Mike,
it seems a bit of an old thread but here's a link to the 3M product that was being spoken
about.  The messages were in the section titled 'BODY'
