Clunk, or Pop. Seems to occur from a dead stop and related to rotation
of the drive shafts. Lock to
Lock turns at speed (~15 mph) do not indicate clunking or pops from CV
joints. Seems to be located
below and to the front of the console area, maybe a little to the right.
Not loud but noticeable. Clunk, or
Pop. Does not increase in duration, frequency or audible level on accelleration.
Only happens once per
take-off from standing. Had transaxle seals replaces ~1200 miles ago. Any
ideas?

Maybe a trans mount/ motor mount gone bad. Just a thought...

Does it happen at 20 MPH. If so it is probably your ABS braking system.
The first time I go forward after start-up I can here a similiar metal, tin
sound under the right front. It only happens after cold start-up.
Thanks your ABS doing its self test...totally normal. I too thought something was wrong when i 1st got my 850.

I have determined that the clunk is really two sounds. A double pop from
the right front wheel... maybe
a stuck caliper piston, and a single metalic "clunk" from directly in front
of the instrument consol but only
upon cold start up. I suspect the later is transmission related .. i.e.
low ATF fluid. Long into short, I had
to repalce my AT plug and lost some fluid ~ 1 pint and it shows low on
the AT dipstick. I'll start there
and work my way to the engine mount and brakes. Send information if you
have a determination of
yours.
Thanks,
TR
