My wife was driving our four year old 740 turbo wagon one summer day
on
Kamehameha Highway outside Pearl Harbor Naval Station when a Toyota
sedan
jumped the median and hit her head-on. Both cars were doing about
45 mph at
the time. My wife suffered some contusions from the air bag deployment
and
that is it. My daughter, who was 5 at the time, was riding in
a car seat in
the middle of the back seat. The sudden stop of the collision
caused her
feet to fly up and she lightly scraped one heel when her feet came
back down
and it hit the edge of the child car seat. The car was a total
wreck. From
the firewall forward there was nothing left. Fortunately, the
other driver
had only minor injuries as well as he was wearing a seatbelt and had
a
surfboard in the car which prevented him from being ejected or jostled
too
much.
Needless to say, we went right out and purchased another Volvo wagon.
Today
I pick up our 3rd Volvo, a new V70. I don't let my family risk
driving
anything else but Volvo's.
