I dont know if any of you read the Bergen Record (Bergen County, NJ)....but
the other day on the front
page there was a picture of a guy who survived a head on crash with a guy
who was trying to kill
himself (and did!). The kamakazi driver was going east in the westbound
lanes of Rt.80....It was about
04:00, and he did not turn on his head lights until just before impact.
He impacted a 1998 S70...he was
in a 199X Honda?. Both cars were traveling in excess of 75MPH. The driver
of the Honda was killed
on the spot! The driver of the S70 who had his seat belt on was only brused
up, and had to spend the
night in the hospital. The S70 was gven to him by his Mom, who just bought
a S80. The State Troopers
and everybody else there said there next car will be a Volvo, because of
how well it took the hit. the
two cars made 100% contact...headlight to headlight! The Troopers also
said if that guy was not in a
Volvo he would have died for sure.
The guy whos S70 was totaled said he will buy a new one ASAP!
Then a few days later I was at my Volvo dealer’s service department for
a oil and filter change, and on
the wall was a cliping of the story. I thought to myself ....you cant even
buy a advert that good.
Frightening thought if you are on a dark interstate....even in a S70!

MOTORIST THANKS HIS STARS - AND HIS CAR
Richard Cohen was doing 65 mph on a straight stretch of Route 80 west
in Wayne
when a pair of white headlights popped up before him. The lights were
bearing down on
him, in the fast lane -- his fast lane.
There was no time to panic -- no time to cut the wheels of his Volvo
sedan in either
direction. There was no time to even raise an arm or yell.
Thanks very much to the kind soul who sent in the article on this amazing event, which you will now find here.
