Michael,
I have had my 1996 Volvo 850 for several years now. I have approx.
83,000 miles on it and I had my battery go bad the other day. I replaced
the
battery( it tested good but with a hard test it was actually bad).
To make a long story short, my factory alarm started going off as soon
as I tried to
start the car. I Disconnected the speaker and drove on. When
I got to a phone I called everyone locally here in Atlanta, GA.
They told me to lock
and unlock the drivers door several times to reset the alarm.
Anyway, it didn't work. What I found out later, was that it was confused.
When thre car
was off the alarm was off. When the car was on it thought it
was being stolen, even though I had the right keys.
Here is the fix:
1. Pop the hood.
2. Lock all doors (secure the car).
3. Open the hood.
4. Disconnect the battery.
5. Reinstall new battery or install cables
6. Close hood.
7. Unlock car with keys.
This will fix the problem! Thanks for all the good info and tips!
Sincerely,
Ray Rauchle
Atlanta, Ga.
