when your battery dies...

Dead Auto[V70][1998]  Mark in Guelph -- Tuesday, 14 August 2001, at 5:59 p.m.

Just got back from 2300K car camping trip in NY & Penn. No car problems. Today drove it around town-no problems. After lunch hop in and it is Totally DEAD. Get it boosted and it runs for 10 min in the driveway and then DIES again.
Have read about the Bad Battery stories on here so I am going now to change the battery BUT should it just die like that? Bigger problem? Any advice?---Thanks

When the battery on my 850 died about two years ago, it was exactly as you describe.

Yes, they just up and die. Replaced one on an S-80 last week. Volvo came in to do a warranty audit. The guy tested the battery and asked why I replaced it. I said it tested bad. he said it was good, and denied the claim. I put it back in a car and called him over. Tested it with the oficial Volvo battery tester. Tester said GOOD BATTERY. Started the car, started fine. Stopped and started again, ok. Started third time, ok. Tried fourth time, click. Tested battery, tester said replace battery. Paid the claim. The current batterys can go at any time. And they wont always test bad. Try a die hard.
