running cables through the firewall

power cable thru firewall?[850][1994]  B Browne -- Wednesday, 4 April 2001, at 12:31 a.m.

im installing a new system in my 94 850 turbo wagon, but i will probably sell it within the next 6 months and i want to take the system back out then. the new
receiver is being professionally installed, but i am doing the rest. my question is:

How do i get the power cable for my amp through the firewall to reach the batterey?!?

I have looked for holes but don't see any...and cutting holes seems dicey esp. since i am selling soon. help? thanx...

I wouldn't expect your '94 to be different from my '93 but Volvo designed in a conduit from the drivers side footwell by the hood release to below the brake
master cylinder for just that reason. Its a tube about 1/2 in. OD that has a plug with 4 little nubs on it. The idea is that you pull out the plug, cut the end off
one of the nubs, feed the wire through the plug and out the other end of the conduit, then thru the next plug and replace it to seal up the conduit. Pretty
 slick.

I can't answer the firewall question. But, I just wanted to
give a tip that is a common mistake: Put a fuse on the power
line at the battery. If you don't, and the wire ever shorts
it will burn. This was a very common mistake I saw when I
installed car stereo systems many years ago.
