My 1996 850 sedan with 65,500 miles makes a clacking noise sometimes, i was told this the hydralic
lifters.I have an extended warranty for two more years and up to 85,000 miles. Should i bring to a
dealer to look at?? I have been told this is normal on the 850. Should i just forget about or get it fixed. I
have also heard that synthetic oil helps alot but it is very expensive please advise.

If your oil isn't changed as often as it should be, the lifters can get noisier than they should be.
The best cure is to use synthetic oil (Amsoil or Mobil 1), warm up the engine and give it an "italian
tune-up" (a higher than normal RPM test drive for 20-30 minutes, like at 4-5000 rpms). After that, it
                       should be quiet.
This assumes that there's nothing else wrong with the engine, like a bad oil pump o-ring or otherwise
                       (rare but not impossible).

So a temp fix is to drive my Volvo on the highway at around 4700 RMPs for 25 minutes to clean out the
"engine" after I do this an oil change. Is it possible that I break something by driving the vehicle at such a
high RPM for 25 minutes. I would think it would do more harm then good.

Do what you're confortable with, like lower RPMs or a shorter drive then. The ONLY concern is that
you don't overheat the engine so watching the temp guage is a good idea. It might not take 25 minutes
                       either.

It could be the fuel injectors, too. Mine make a fair amount of noise, ticking sound actually. It is most
                       prevalent at idle.
