Simon is one of Australia's most acclaimed and versatile performers. At the age of 13, he won the AFI Best Actor award for his performance in Fred Schepisi's The Devil's Playground. Since then he has appeared in over 50 stage productions including She Stoops to Conquer, The Herbal Bed, Company, and Jonah Jones for the Sydney Theater Company, A Christmas Carol for the Royal Shakespeare Company, JEFFERY for the Greenwich Theater London, The Season at Sarsaparilla, Conquest of the Carmen Miranda, The Threepenny Opera, Fanshen, Romeo and Juliet, and The Revenger's Tragedy for the South Australia Theater Company, and at Nimrod Theater Company All's Well that Ends Well, The Merchant of Venice, Wild Honey, A Hard God, Richard III and Salonika. Simon played Marius in the original Australian cast of Les Misérables. Subsequent musical theatre roles include Billy Crocker in Anything Goes for which he won the Green Room Award for Best Actor in a Musical, Raoul in Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theater in London, Whizzer in Falsettos for STC, Cliff in Cabaret, Strephon in Iolanthe for the VSO and Carl Magnus in the Royal National Theater's production of A Little Night Music starring Dame Judi Dench. He has devised and performed two highly successful cabaret shows, If You Were Wondering with Ron Creagher as Musical Director and most recently collaborated with Max Lambert on Together Again for the First Time. Simon's numerous television credits include Murder Call, Water Rats, The One That Got Away, Loveless, Heroes II The Return, Brides of Christ, GP, Scales of Justice and The Restless Years. A generation of toddlers has grown up with him as a regular presenter of ABC TV's Playschool for over ten years. Feature film appearances include Pitch Black, Passion, Slate & Wyn and Me, The Clinic, and The Irishman.
