Caroline O'Conner is Velma Kelly

Caroline was raised and trained in Sydney. She completed her extensive training at the Royal Ballet School in London. In Australia she appeared with the Australian opera in productions of Okalahoma! And West Side Story before leaving for England in 1984. She was invited back to Australia in 1994,1995 and 1996 to appear in the VSO/IMG production of West Side Story, winning the Green Room awards for her performance as Anita.
On London's West End, Caroline's performance as Mabel in Mack and Mabel was nominated for the 1996 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a musical.
Recently Caroline played the dual roles of Monica/Josephine in the European premiere of Romance Romance. Other West End appearances include the original company of Me and my girl, Cabaret, Is There Life After High School?, and Angel in The Rink. She created the roles of Lu-Lu in Budgie, Consuela in Matador and Queen Pasiphae in the Challenge. She also played Julie in Talent. Caroline has played leading roles in 2 West End roles simultaneously -Mavis in Hot shoe Shuffle and Mae Jones in Street Scene, which was filmed for BBC.
Her Repertory work includes Cassie in a chorus Line (the first UK tour), Lola in Damn Yankees, Ellie May in Show Boat (Royal Shakespeare Company and Opera North) Lizzie in the European premiere of Baby (library theatre, Manchester), Vera in Hold Tight its 60's Night (Oldham Coliseum), Kay in Salt of the Earth(Leicester Haymarket Theatre) and the Witch in Into the Woods (library Theatre Manchester).
Caroline has been nominated for 3 best actress Awards for her Repertory work. She also appeared in the original workshop production of Sunset Boulevard at the Sydmonton Festival.
Concerts include Rhapsody in Blue, the Gershwin spectacular Concerts with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Sydney Opera house and with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at the Victorian Arts Centre, A Bernstein Tribute at the Amphitheatre Athens, The world premiere of Smile: the music of Charles Chaplin in Amsterdam and the re-opening of the Regent Theatre Melbourne.
Caroline's recordings include Mabel in Mack and Mabel 1996 EMI London Cast recording, Anita in West Side Story, Ellie May Chipley in Showboat, Queen Pasiphae in the Challenge (all for JAY records), Me and my girl (EMI) Cabaret (First Night Records), Lu-Lu in Budgie (MCA) and guest appearances on Among Friends and Marina Priors Latest album Somewhere (Sony Records). Caroline has released her first solo album entitled 'What I did for love' (Jay Records).

Recently Caroline wowed Melbourne and Sydney audiences with her performance in Piaf as the title role.
