Sharon's performing aspirations began at an early age. At 5 she enrolled herself in ballet lessons and by the age of 12 was performing professionally in theater, cabaret and television. She was one of the all singing, all dancing reporters on the ABC's Earthwatch, and won roles in Sons and Daughters , Willing and Abel , The Winners Series and Home and Away . In 1988 she was cast in the original Melbourne company of Cats, playing the role of Demeter for the first Aust/NZ tour, and then went on to perform in another Cameron Mackintosh show, the hugely successful Australian premiere production of Phantom of the Opera. Sharon played the role of Meg Giry and was nominated for a Mo Award for her performance. Into the Woods for the Sydney Theatre Company followed, and for her portrayal of Little Red Ridinghood she was nominated for a Critic's Choice Award and two Mo Awards, winning Best Supporting Musical Theatre Performer of the Year in 1993. Also for the STC Sharon played Cordelia in Falsettos throughout Australia, earning her a Green Room Award nomination. Next came a successful season with the Victoria State Opera/IMG production of West Side Story in Sydney and Brisbane, where she played a starring role as the feisty Anita. Other theatre credits include The Hunting of the Shark, Oscar's Turn to Sing, Mission Thraxonia as the roller-skating robot NPA, and the role of Bella in the Rags workshop for Opera Australia. Sharon's most recent musical theatre performance was the starring role of Belle (taking over from Rachel Beck after the show moved from Melbourne to Sydney) in the celebrated Walt Disney production of Beauty and the Beast in Sydney and Melbourne. It was for this role that Sharon won her second Mo Award for Female Musical Theatre Performer for the year. Away from the musical theater stage, Sharon is part of the cabaret trio Combo Fiasco. They have performed extensively throughout Australia, and last year took their show to Manhattan where they received rave reviews from the New York press and were invited back to perform in Washington, Miami and New York where they were the opening and closing act at the New York Cabaret Convention. They performed live on the NBC Today show, and have been nominated this year for a prestigious MAC Award for Best Vocal Comedy Group in Manhattan. Sharon is delighted to be back treading the boards, especially in the wonderful role of Velma Kelly.
