Gday Paul,

Sorry old mate but i;m minus a few thousand memorie cells no doubt your in
the Richmond ADGies photo you will notice that i'm not in the photo but as
you remember i was there, kinda nice to hear from you again after all these years.

Mate do you have any photo's from that era as i would love to include them on
site for the boys to see and perhaps jog a few other peoples memories as well
as i'm sure that thirty years takes a little recalling.

Anyway mate drop me a line or two every now and then and i'll only be to happy to
have a yarn.

Catchya later the POM

HALL OF MEMORIES - A LASTING TRIBUTE TO NASHOS

A bronze plaque marking the 50th anniversary of the introduction of National Service
would be a lasting tribute to Australia's National Servicemen, the Minister for Veterans'
Affairs, Bruce Scott, said in Brisbane today.

Unveiling the plaque in the Hall of Memories at Anzac Square, Mr Scott said it was
fitting that the plaque found its place alongside other tributes to those who had
defended, or had been ready to defend, our country.

"The 'Nashos' were an influential part of our defence force during a time of regional and
international instability.

"This plaque commemorates the role of more than 287,000 young men who were called
up for National Service in the Navy, Army and Air Force between 1951 and 1972."

Many National Servicemen saw service during the Korean War and in Malaysia and
Borneo during the Indonesian Confrontation. Later, more than 17 000 served with
distinction in South Vietnam. During the 21-years of National Service, 187 national
servicemen were killed, with some 1500 wounded during their service.

"This 50th anniversary year has been an important time for our National Servicemen," Mr
Scott said.

"In February, at National Service Day marches across Australia, many thousands of
'Nashos' took to the streets with pride.

"The coming week of reunion activities on the Gold Coast will see the largest gathering
of National Servicemen from the Navy, Army and Air Force, since National Service
ended.

"And earlier this year, the Prime Minister announced that that a new commemorative
medal would be struck for those who undertook National Service," he said.

"Australia has always been proud to honour those who serve.

"I hope this plaque will be seen as a lasting tribute to all National Servicemen, especially
those who made the ultimate sacrifice."

Yahoo Chat Club Sunday Night 9pm

Well fellas the old chat club is taking its time getting off the ground ,as there seems to be a bit of uncertainty on times.
Lets say we get on line and all reved up at 9pm NSW est time = 8pm cst for Adelaide = wst 7pm for those in Perth.
If we check in each Sunday then theres the chance that we might catch those on line.

Anyone interested in "ADGie-Cam"

---------------------------------------------------------

Something that maybe of interest to god knows who is the POM's latest brainwave
"ADGie-Cam" , i'm sure that with a little bit of frustration and a hell of a lot of obscene language i can get this rotten thing to work PS i'm still looking for the start button but i'm sure that over the next lifetime if i ever come back, it will work.
If you feel that you might see a future for the latest in useless gadgets on our site please let me know and we will end up with our own web-cam site.

Where's the Photo of 3/99 Jim?

Can the school at Amberley help me out ?
As some time back i had an email asking about this course photo and i would like to have our course listing reasonably complete and maybe theres a few other photo's that should be up there as well, just hang in there "Kempy" as i'm sure it will appear sooner or later, sooner hopefully if we are to encourage the newer fellas to be part of our association.

I rely on many different people for info as being down here in NSW is just a tad to far south to just drive over and kick a few tyres and harrass a few good people,
lets show the spirit that makes the ADGie Mustering what it is.

Question would the School at Amberley like to contribute directly to our site ?
if so then i would look forward to setting aside room on the site.

It amazes me that in all its wisdom the services keep so little on the history side of the different aspects of RAAF many no doubt think that the only thing the RAAF is is aircraft and as people like Brian Dirou help to point out many many exservice men and women are left with no where to belong after doing their time in, hopefully in the not to distant future this hassle will be sorted out, but for now i feel its important to put together our history as no doubt one day you'll be part of it if not already and hopefully some kind soul will need a source of information to put our heritage into print, i wish to thank Alan Giltrap who has researched so much of our past and thank the association who have again made it available for all to read in our magazine the Blue Beret ( the printed form ).

If at any time you fellas are surfing the net and visiting a few other sites then let them know what an ADGie is by inviting them to pay us a visit by putting an entry into their Guestbook thereby extending the hand of friendship and letting the world know who or what an ADG is.
