APPOINTMENT TO AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL COUNCIL
The Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Danna Vale, today announced the
reappointment of Major General Adrian Clunies-Ross AO MBE (Ret'd) to the
Council of the Australian War Memorial for a further 12 months.
A former Chief of Operations in the Army, Major General Clunies-Ross has
served on the council since 1996 and has been council chairman since
November 2000.
"In the past seven years, Major General Clunies-Ross has made a valuable
contribution to our national shrine of remembrance," Mrs Vale said.
"He has provided strong leadership in a time of significant change that has
included major refurbishment programs within the memorial's existing
galleries and the Federal Government's $11 million Centenary of Federation
project to build Anzac Hall.
"Major General Clunies-Ross is highly regarded by the ex-service community
and I am delighted that he will continue to play an important role in
managing the Australian War Memorial."
The Council of the Australian War Memorial comprises 10 members appointed by
the Governor-General and representatives from each of the Services.
