Thanks for the offer, you may note that I am very short on any information or rolls from or since Vietnam.
I would be much appreciate any material in relation to members from later periods. E.g.; Gulf - East Timor and the like. I did note, from your site that you also are waiting on lists of those who have served.
The RAAF Ensignia used on my page - now also on your page is from the RAAF Memorial in Canberra, was a photo I took myself then did a bit of work on it, as I am doing with quite a number of things.
Have attached some items you may be able to find a home for on your site.

Hi Pom
I was just looking through the blue beret at a section on door gunners nominal role and there seems to miss a few. I noticed Ron Tait was missing also China Mahoney they were both there the same time as me, Also to the best of my knowledge Mc Cubben (if he is the one who remustered to doggy) was never in Vietnam Therefor never on choppers.
I will go through the list again when I have more time and try to remember who else was there.
Lots of luck in your life
regards Jim Nice.

Subject: Phan Rang Photo's on Your Site
Hello,
My name is Carl Adams. I've nearly completed writing a book on my experiences as a US Air Force dog handler at Phan Rang and am looking for whoever owns the copyrights to the photo's in the section titled "HO Night Life at Phan Rang". I would like to use some of the photos. The original plan was to write the book for my children and grand children and for the few handlers I've been able to locate. If I stick with the plan, the book will be self published, and have limited distribution. I may submit the manuscript to a publisher. If it is accepted, it would be available to the general public. As of this writing, I'm not sure which direction I'll go. In ether case, the photo's would help illustrate what I've tried to discribe. I would appreciate the e-mail address of the owner of the photo's. If that is not possible, could you please pass my e-mail addresses on to him and request that he contact me?
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
Sincerly,
Carl Adams
G'day Mate
I am going to attempt to send you a couple of photo's , one is of my wife and myself in the front bar and the other is the Entrance to the front bar
I will get a couple of the back bar done and send them later
I thought that a few names of the Vets who are living here might be of interest to
Neil "Whoofa" Matthews is a 2 tour Vet 3RAR and 9 RAR
who has been living here for a couple of years, in April this year 5 members of the local Mafia tried to perform a home invasion, after 10 minutes the score was Whoofa 5 Mafia 0 , and I beleive the would be gangsters thought they had had a Contact with 3 and 9 in total
Another 9 RAR Vet who is here is Ian Macrae and he has lived here for several years but his plans are now to organise a visa for his lovely lady and return to Aussie next year
Another guy who is a touch shy about his name being put around is 'Sandy" also 2 tours with 4 and RAR's as well as service in Malaya anyone who knows him will know by the nickname
More next time

Any assistance we can give that stops Vets being ripped off we are only to happy to do
The only cost is a beer at the PUB
If you are interested I will forward names of blokes passing through (especially with 18 August approaching) that may be off interest to others

Hi Bob,
Have been browsing your website again, per usual, you have done a fantastic job, THANK YOU, for always placing our Newsletter in your site, thanks good of you.
After I lost all the info re the virus (all fixed now) I had a lot of guys asking me for Youe Website address, as they are frequent visitors. But, I've been flat out, & only gotten around to asking you.
Hopefully one day in the near future we too will have our own website, that is when this dumb arse learns how.
Fond regards
Jan
Vietnam Veterans Link Line
G'day Robert
This attachment is to let you know of the true story of why the person mentioned was deported from Vietnam
He is a Kiwi 161 Vet / 6 RAR 2nd Tour and I am told formally President or Sec of the Kiwi Vets Assoc. and is likely to have a different version, but I have sighted the document and my wife translated it for me
He came hear to set up a business with tours to Long Tan etc. but would not listen to advice and joined forces with the Purple Night people and attempted to destroy everything that we had established (good relationship with local Authorities etc.) in order to make money out of returning Vets.
His actions could have had everyone banned from the Dat and caused the Cross at Long Tan to be lost to us all (it is the only monument to foriegn soldiers on this soil from the Vietnam War and a lot of people have put in a lot of time to ensure that we have a good relationship with the local, to keep it there.

Panno ..
Thinking about going back??
My name is Alan Davis and along with my Vietnamese wife live in Vung Tau where we run the Ettamogah Pub
The Pub is becoming welknown among Vets a an unofficial "Embassy" where advice and guidance is given to the guys when they return here
My wife has, in the past 18 months taken the responsibility of a guide and bullshit breaker in taking over 200 Vets to areas like Nui Dat, the Horseshoe, Long Tan etc., this she does for the cost of hiring vehicles and entry "fees" paid to officials, thus reducing the cost to Vets by more than two thirds
We have recently become aware that a Bar called the Purple Night, about 100 yards up the road from us is displaying the Boxing Kangaroo flag in attempt to fool people into believing that it is us
This Bar is renowned as a rip off joint by all who live and work in Vungers and would like if possible for you to warm your members
They will charge a new face nearly $3 Aussie for a Beer 333, the cheapest, as apposed to the $1.40 we and many other places charge
Last week a Vet was not only ripped off in being charged the equivalent of $75 Aussie for 2 beers and 2 orange juice he receive stand over tactics to make him pay
We were able to get the money returned to him with the help of local authorities but would like your members warned to be careful
Another tactic they are using is paying taxi drivers to tell people who ask to came to our Pub that is a knock shop and not a safe place to go, they then take them to Purple Night. Unfortunately they did this with my Uncle and Auntie (on holiday from Aussie) the other day and we found out. Please warn your Members not to be sucked in
On a lighter note I have set up in our back bar a mini museum containing many photos of the area during the Australian involvement here and should your members have any photos the could send via the internet it would be appreciate, we also have a graffiti wall that the guys that are passing through sign
I would like the opportunity to purchase some of the badges you have for sale and would like to contact you when my wife and I visit Aussie in late August/September ( I am from Melbourne and will be driving to Canberra to visit Graham Edwards MP, one of the first people my wife took to Nui Dat) with the view of purchasing items that we can display, I particularly like the one "We were winning when I left"
Regards
Alan and Anh Davis
Ettamogah Pub
Vung Tau
ps any members coming here are welcome to contact us via internet for any help we can give, as an example the cost of a 3 day Mekong Delta tour can be done with a local company for about 55 Aussie and this includes transport and hotels.

Republic of Korea Outpost
Again on the way to the beach this outpost was just before the turn and as can be seen very heavily fortified.
---------------------------------------------------------
Dammed if you do and dammed if you don't
This small dam on the way to the beach was the reciever of many a grenade, don't think that i'd care to much to paddle around in it as not all the grenades thrown went off. Any Irish mine sweepers out there ?
Looking like a real wary pic this was only a bumped camera on time exposure of the American Naval Area at the beach.
The outcome of a social call by Charlie VC at the beach 70-71 damage caused by a sachel charge placed inside this American Clubhouse also destroyed a M35 truck that was parked outside.
One of the Gunpits at the beach the smoke in the background comes from the oil line carrying JP4
to the base at Phan-Rang after it was hit by Uncle Ho's boys.
Night vision a look from the Guard tower at the beach, this tower contained a bloody huge adjustable searchlight great for lighting up all the brothels that were outside the beach camp, many a girl was embarrased to be highlighted doing a nature call late of night plus she may have been illuminated by a snap flare as well, we didn't want these girls becoming lost on their night wanderings.
