Subject: Web Site query
Hi Jim
I have just had my first look at the ADG web site. It looks great, but I have a question. From the names listed in 9 Sqdn and base sup/flight it would appear that I was never in Vietnam.
No 1 Course served as door gunners (I have film of myself and John Downes to back this up). John is now deceased and therefore unable to verify but Bob Goad, who was also a door gunner, is still alive, and can verify it. Also No 1 Course served for one month with 6RAR and did main gate guard duty but I cannot find my name listed under any role. Can you please investigate for me.
My time served in Vietnam was August 1966 - September 1967. My service number is A222778.
Hope you can sort this out for me mate.
Regards
Bruce Loseby.

Well Bruce rest easy your name has been added to both the 9 sqn and 1 osu roll.

One would have to ask Victor Poppa, whether your Mama, fed you ugly pills or stood on your face to wind the clock after viewing your latest. Speaking of people that are hard to look at ... you'd never guess who E-mailed yours truly the other day ... one Peter Alexander from 3 ADG Course (15Aug66 to 18Nov66), of Kelmscott in Perth and I think we've hooked him Association wise. More to follow ... over.

Dear Pom ,
Thanks for the quick reply. It sure is good to have some contact with the old crew after all these years. The Only Adgie that I have had contact with is Greg White, who was a amte of Aurther Todd. They both married Local Thai Girls. Greg Lives not too far from me, although I have no seen him for a while. He remustered to PTI and the last time I saw him was at the Sgts Mess At Edin. Base..
Do you have contact address or phone for Carl (Gestapo) Christoffersen.. . There are so many names I would like to trace the where about of the guys, But after all this time, I guess I would not recognise them . All old geriatric farts now. Once again Thanks for your mateship.

Gents,
The attached photo is of one a certain SOF (Senior Old Fart) relaxing
on board HMAS Balikpapan (Landing Craft Heavy - LCH) a little over two
weeks ago. We had a short Sunday cruise to a little Island called AROVA
and had a BBQ and swim. Used to be the site for Club med Bougainville (No
S$%T) but like everything around thia part of Bougainvile it was trashed
and destroyed. As you can see, life is rough (and we're getting tier 1
field allowance etc).
Regards,
Vic.
Dear, Pom I served in Ubon lin 1967 From June till December. Carl Christoffersen and I flew up via Herc together. My service no is A44094. At time Glen Hombsch was the DefO, folowed by Tommy Turner. Could you please add my name to the roll. I would be proud to be on it... I have not had any contact with ADG group since I got out in 69.
I obtained the Email Address from Vic Smith, whose address I got from a
mate (Yank) in Texas.
If you requre any other information please ask and I will be only to happy to supply it

G'day Fellas,
as a long time soldier of 34 years - six years Brit Army RMP, RAAF SGuard (69-75) and soldier RACMP 75-96) I served a number of postings with RAAF ADGs - and respected their competence. Although I must admit to wondering why these very efficient blokes had not joined the army in the first place.
Foremost amongst my RAAF postings was B'worth '71-'73 where as a 'doggie' I counted as a good mate Jimmy 'Boomer' Soames (door gunner SVn) and footy play with the Butterworth Wallabies. I also counted as friends Sgt Fred Holtman (who demonstrated how one man could lift and move a jukebox in the Railway Bar, Penang (long closed) - and Peter Vidler who I met in '69 but who, I believe, was tragically killed in SVn.
Following my transfer to the Army in '75 I lost touch with ADG mates. But no worries. Good to make your acquaintance again and I hope to make contact with one or two blokes from that long-gone era.
Regards
Mike Wellington

Mate,
I'm an ex ADGIE '66-72 with 6mths at Ubon and a total of 18 mths in SVN during two tours. Pete Vidler was on 3Cse with me in '66 and I was a Gunner when his chopper crashed in '71 (probably shot down). He was medevaced back to OZ with (From memory) a fractured collarbone. His Captain and Gunner were killed and the co-pilot was injured and also medevaced (from memory). Pete did subsequently die in a chopper crash during flood relief in (I think) '74.>

POM,
Saw your comments. Not quite continuous service mate. I was posted from Vungers to Williamtown in October '71 then around March '72 I decided I had had enough and elected to discharge at Pearce in May '72. For about 3 months I bummed around in WA (Pickering Brook and Kalamunda. Picked up a job working for a blasting contractor followed that by builders labourer. Helped to convert an old Tom The Cheap Grocer in Kalamunda to "The Last Drop Wine Bar and Restaurant". When Len Bennet opened the joint, I became a wine waiter (regrettably not for very long). Shortly thereafter, I got a job at LAZ-BOY-INTERNATIONAL in Welshpool were I sub assembled the backs for several different models of JASON Reclina Rocker. About 18 mths in to that job I got itchy feet, wanted to travel and get paid for it so I signed on again and here I am (on another deployment). By the way, the job has taken me all around OZ (except TASSIE)to Malaysia, Singapore, Timor, Bougainville (twice)and also partially paid for a family holiday to the USA when we were stationed at Tindal in the N.T.
Regards,
Vic

1 MISSING CHILD every 24 seconds

without having to carry a handgun?
And you want to live in America ?
Pom;
Could you do me a favour please mate, and send me the ADG website address, and if you wouldn't mind, also send it to Jan in Taree?? She had a virus attack as well, so I am assuming that she lost a bit of stuff as well.
Hope everything is just fine and dandy at your end, nothing much is any different here, same old boring shit, just a different day. The only real amusement I have had lately was going to the pictures the other day, and watching Becky and Sluggo snore in unison, although Becky still denies that he went to sleep. Must be one of those rare people who just snore while they are awake just for the hell of it.
Braz
Yea great blokes to go to the movies with ten minutes and there both asleep.
