Dear Bob
The machine in your latest pic is the HM14 of Bob Raper (not Roper), the
first to be completed in WA. It was built in 1936, I think, in Perth,
and tested at the old West Subiaco airfield. It was powered by a V-twin
Blackburne Tomtit 26hp from Dr. Cato's DH 53, and never flew. During one test
he stood it on its nose and broke the prop ( Gil Johnston has newsreel
footage of this), and afterwards had engine problems. He later fitted a
divided undercarriage, and  sold the machine when he moved to Melbourne,
and I don't think he knows what subsequently happened to it. Gil is the
one who has Flea photos, and he should be home soon. He has a photo of
most of the HM 14's of which photos are known to exist. I haven't
forgotten about sending you  my shots of Gordon Laubsch, etc - will do
so soon.
