Grunting with the Grunts at Nui-Dat
 
Looks as if after all those years you still can't make a bed  "Red"  Forbes, Shame on you
Memories for those that did the ARU course at Nui Dat, 1969.
Bob, I took the photo, the other guys were GRUNTS ! Laurie Gay was a Cpl on the same course, different section.
Sorry the memory just ain't that good to remember the grunt course members.
The course was for grunt reinforcements and went for 2 weeks, involved weapons, tactics, booby traps etc, and
patrolling around the Dat.

It was the first time i ever experienced artillery shells  falling at close range with accompanying shrapnel flying around our ears as they tried to "walk" the enemy into our position. At least i think that's what they were doing!

What a fantastic site you have here. A great way for those of us no longer in the mustering to keep up to date with all the great mates we made throughout our years on the job.
