Wolves Den Meeting,

Cub Scouts Pack 877

Project:  Making the Den Flag & Stand

One of the first things a Wolves Den needs is their own Den flag.  So, the project for our 1st den meeting was to assemble a flag stand and then design our flag.  We used blue and gold felt, along with a variety of Cub Scout patches.  As shown below, the Scouts assembled the flag stand and laid-out the design of the flag itself.  The letters for "WOLVES" were drawn on yellow felt, cut-out, and then overlaid onto the large blue background.  Everyone participated and agreed upon the final design.  Afterward, the components of the flag were permanently attached via fabric glue.  The flag is displayed during all Den meetings and other Scouting-related activities.

Game:  Hungry Hungry Anteaters

This is a game we made up.  You need straws (w/ flexible end), small pictures of ants (I Xerox'd one sheet of ant pics and cut-them-out into small rectangles), and some containers.  The objective is to use the straw (anteater nose) to suck-up ants and drop them into your container (e.g., the anteater's "stomach").  The anteater that eats the most ants in a given time period wins.  Note that this game can be played as individuals or as teams.

Starting Down the Bobcat Trail

We gathered around the pretend campfire to discuss the Bobcat Trail.  We learned the Cub Scout sign, salute, and handshake.  Plus we recited the Cub Scout Promise and the Law of the Pack.
