REFFING STORIES
These are just different things that have happend to me while reffing.  And other rants and raves I have about it.
STORY 1:  We have an extremely huge hill at the field I work at.  That field is called field 1.  It is about an acre, and half of the acre is on flat land, and the rest is on a very steep hill.  So anyway, I was sent to ref the top of the hill so the game is going on and all of a sudden this kid is in a ditch in the middle of the shooting area and he is calling himself out and people are still shooting over top of him.  He doesnt know that people are shooting at other people behind him so he is like I AM F***ing out you stupid bas****s and all this crap.  And at my field, we have a no cursing policy because kids may be around and it is just not appropriate.  So I warned him once while calling him out constantly and he still isn't coming out of the side of his bunker like he should have, he keeps on trying coming out of the top like a dumby.  And he actually thought I was gonna run over to him through 100 feet of brush just to pull him out when he can just walk out the side of the ditch in complete safety and walk away.  So finally he runs out.  Cursing like a wild person, and remember this kid is 13 years old I tell him to stop again and tell me who was over shooting.  So he walks next to me and points at this 25 year old guy who could beat the living crap out of him and is like "THAT SORRY SON OF A B**CH right there!! That mother f***ing piece of sh**.  So then I told him he was gone, and he can just go back to the staging area.  He was like F you and walked away.  So before the next game started, I found him and I was like your not playing and go back to the staging and he was like whatever and walked away.  So I got the head ref to come over and he was like do you have a problem with one of my refs??  He was like just him (me) and Nate the head ref that day, asked him again and he was like him because he isn't doing his job.  Then I ran over to him and told him again what he did and what he could have done then the guy started cursing at Nate and he made him leave.  The moral of this story is don't argue with refs with profanity.  Not something good to do.  If you have a problem, ask him nicely and he may reconsider.

Story #2  DISCLAIMER:  (In NO way am I descriminating or making fun of deaf people in this so please do not think that.)  One time I was reffing a group of kids where the parents were deaf.  They weren't actually playing but they wanted to come out and see.  So I got them masks and took them out and told them to stand by me.  It was the kids first game and they were enjoying themselves when suddenly this kid just turns and starts shooting at us.  I'm sitting here yelling at him to stop and we are really far on the sidelines.  One of the parents was standing in front of me after I jumped back so I started screaming with no avail and I went to pull her back but it was too late.  She took one right in the mouth.  It busted on her X-Fire mask and just went everywhere.  Everyone knows how paint is nasty and she wasn't enjoying it.  It turns out, it was her own son who popped her.  Moral of this story, don't shoot poeple who are standing by the refs, especially your mother.....

RANT #1:  You know what gets me?  Is people lifting up their goggles during games.  I mean people just don't get that they will go blind if they get hit in the eye.  Last week 10 people in the first game of the day right after the safety briefing took of their goggles.  2 of them were while playing and balls flying a foot in front of thier faces.  Then when you tell people to put their barrel plug in they ignore you and keep walking?  I think it is because I am younger, I do not know, but it pisses me off.  Soon after I really stood up to peopel and made them do things, they get pissed but what can you do?  People especially rentals and others just don't understand the importants of safety.  Enough of my rambling.  Remember safety first!
