Nathan Jacobs
We went in on Thursday, September 7th, at around 4 pm, to start induction with Cytotec. They sent me back home because they didn't have any beds...I was not pleased. They told me to call in an hour to see if they had a bed. So I went home, ate, and took my own sweet time. They ended up calling me. I was tempted to say forget the whole thing, I would have him on my own, but Mom had driven 3 1/2 hours to be with me. So, at 7:30 pm, I was settled into the bed with the suppository. The dosing schedule was every four hours, and around 6:30 am I was progressing. My doctor put a heartbeat sensor on Nathan's head, which broke my water, and the Pitocin was started. Around 11 am I wasn't able to find my yoga center any longer because the contractions never came down all the way. I tried some Stadol, which didn't even phase me. I was dialated enough to receive an epidural around noon and I slept off and on until 1pm. Then I started feeling uncomfortable around my ribcage. Since I had that before with David, I was presuming it was my urge to push. The nurse wasn't really paying attention to what I was saying. Then Nathan's heartbeat started dropping, and I told Neal to get the nurse. The nurses at the desk told my husband they were watching on the monitors and my husband came back into the room without a nurse. I made him go back out and get my nurse! She realized he was moving down into the birth canal and that it was time to prepare everything. They were going to put a catheter in to empty my bladder, but Nathan's head was already crowning. I was starting to get really nauseated and they said they had called the doctor. I kept waiting for her (it wasn't my doctor on call) and finally she got there and gotr dressed. I almost threw up, but I know if I did, Nathan would have been out on the floor, without anyone to catch him. I pushed around 5 times, and he was born at 1:40 pm, Friday, September 8th.
