Scott James Enyeart
Scott was supposed to be due July 11, 2000, but my doctor thought it would be better on both of us that he came earlier, because I was starting to get high blood pressure and I had gestational diabetes.
I went into the hospital on June 26, 2000, to start the p-gel to soften up my cervix. He put the p-gel in at 8am and at 12pm, he sent me home and told me to come back the next day at 9am. I went home that night and was having contractions and I went back the next day and my cervix still had not done anything, so we did the p-gel again. He checked me again that day at 1pm and still nothing, so he sent me home that day and told me to come back that night again to do the gel. I went back that night, and he did the gel one more time, and told me that he was leaving town that night and would be back the following day. He told me to try and not go into labor until he bot back.
On June 28th, 2000, I started bleeding and that really scared me badly, so I went to the hospital and they said that was normal with all the p-gel that my doctor had used and the doctor that was on call told me that since my contractions weren't regular that I could go home or stay there. I decided to go back home. He told me that I would be back that night or the next morning in full labor. At 10pm that night, I started having really hard contractions and they were 10 minutes apart, and the later the time got, the harder the contractions got, and at 2:45 am, June 29th, 2000, I went to the hospital because the contractions were three minutes apart and my doctor had just gone on call with another lady and the nurses told me that he said "to wait until he got back to have that baby." I wanted to have an epidural, but the hospital that I delivered my baby in doesn't do epidurals unless you are having a c-section because they don't have an anesthesiologist on call. So I had to use another pain medicine to get through the contractions, and let me tell you, it didn't do any good. Well, my doctor got back and he came in and checked me. I was dialated to 4cm and he told the nurse to call him when I was fully dialated. At 6:30 he came in and checked me and i was almost all the way dialated and if I wanted to push, I could and he would push the rest of my cervix out of the way. Well, I was ready to push because I wanted to see my baby "girl", and let me tell you, I pushed like you would not believe. He was stuck on my tailbone because he was coming our face up, so the doctor had to numb my tailbone and use the suction cup to pull him out At 7:38am, Scott came out and the doctor said "It's a boy" and me and his daddy were really surprised because we were told we were having a girl. I was a little upset because I had a boy, but let me tell you, once I saw my little man, all that sadness went away because he was healthy.
