Why would a poor college student that was working part-time in 1977 trade in a great ride of a '72 Gremlin X with a 304 V-8 for a six cylinder Pacer? My dad summed it up in two words... "Your Nuts." It must have been the start of the Pacer Mania. I can remember working nights during this time, and on many occasions I had as many as seven guys crammed into the car to get something to eat during our lunch break... someone had to have been crammed into the rear hatch area!
This little 1975 base Pacer in 6c, Evergreen Metallic had four options on it: automatic transmission, AM radio, whitewall tires and full wheel covers. I remember deciding to get this one rather than a used fully optioned one, as I could afford the car payment of $36.95 a month! After driving it a while, I could understand why the "little 'o lady" traded it in on one that had air conditioning!
