This distinctive little '76 beauty in 6J "Silver Metallic" with J2 "Brandywine Metallic" bottom (no, it is not black) belongs to ME! She is a real head turner. After picking her up in Illinois, we drove her home to Penna. with no problems, and she ran like a top. The family has nick-named her "Cutie Pie".

Options include: 258 six, 2bl automatic, power steering & disc brakes, air conditioning, tinted glass, cruise control, tilt wheel, D/L package, AMC aluminum wheels, two-tone paint, vent windows, light group, visibility group, rear heated glass with rear wiper. It also has the optional AMC Entertainment Center of an AM/FM stereo radio with 8-track stereo player and four speakers...The 8-track still works great!

Future projects to improve her are: Replace outer door glass and rear hatch weather strip moldings, as well as the front windshield and rear hatch glass are badly scratched and need to be replaced. One fin of her grille is broken and needs to be fixed, or another one found.
You are looking at her best side, as at one time she had a ding in her passenger door fixed...not done very good, as you can really tell that it has been fixed. We are hoping to get her painted in the spring of 2000. Hoping to find some chrome wheel opening moldings too.

It took a year and a half to find her. I was beginning to wonder if I had set my standards too high and was not being realistic in my search. After being disappointed four times...one was over a beautiful low mileage wagon, and we wanted a coupe. We traveled over a thousand miles one way only to have found that the owner had misrepresented the condition of the car...Photos do lie you know! Another great car was found in the eastern part of the country, but was a later model coupe, and we wanted the first style front Vs the raised hood and grill of the later models. Then it happened...we found two cars that met with our standards and budget. It was hard to chose between them, but the sale of the one just did not feel quite right.

The previous owner that we decided to purchase from had purchased her from the original owners in Kansas when he had retired as a certified mechanic. He lovingly set about to restore her mechanically. After many phone calls to him to discuss the car, and once again receiving photos, we decided to purchase the car. The decision just felt right. But before we could drive out to get her, her owned had passed away after a long illness. He wanted the car to go to an enthusiast who would appreciate it and carry on what he had started. He even included an AMC technical manual, and many spare parts with her.
