How do I Join Phi Alpha Delta ?

If you are an undergraduate student, check with your pre-law chapter.  If there is no pre-Law chapter, contact District Justice David Kight.  If you are a law student, contact your law school's chapter justice.

What are the benefits of joining PAD?

Professional Programs - PAD sponsors professional, educational programs geared toward the development of practical lawyering skills.

Job Preparation -     PAD teaches law students to prepare resumes, interview for jobs and obtain permanent or summer positions.

Alumni Contacts -    PAD's extensive network of practicing attorneys is one of the most important resources the Fraternity makes available to its law student members. 

Pad-Law List -    PAD provides a direct and meaningful connection among our student and alumni members through the PAD-Law List on the Internet.  The PAD-Law List has become an important forum for an on-going evolving dialogue among our membership.

Scholarship and Loans -    PAD awards five Service Scholarships annually based on service to the chapter, law school, and the community.  The PAD Endowment Fund provides emergency student loans up to $3,000.00

Achievement Awards -    PAD offers a series of international and local awards for excellence including: Outstanding Law School Member, Outstanding Alumnus Member, Outstanding Scholastic Achievement, PAD Law Related Education Awards, and Outstanding Justice and Clerk Awards.

1L Survival Tips -    PAD provides chapters with assistance geared specifically for First Year Students incluing: First Year Survival Manuals, How to Brief a A Case and How to Write a Resume.  PAD offers videos produced especially for our members by renowned Professor Michael Josephson entitled: Law School. . . Make it a Positive Experience and Exam Taking Techniques.

Leadership Development -    PAD encourages student leaders to develop and refine organization skills, public speaking, networking, community involvement, and public relations skills.

PAD Discount Programs -    PAD has a variety of Membership Discount Programs including: Preferred MasterCard program, Rental Car Discounts and Insurance Programs

Community Service -     PAD provides the venue for law students and alumni to work together in our Award Winning Law-Related Education Program.  In 1979, PAD became the first and only law fraternity funded by the U.S. Department of Justice to develop and provide educational materials and training for students, teachers and lawyers.  PAD also sponsors on eof the largest law-student organized Annual Food Drives benefiting shelters and food banks throughout the country.

What does it cost to join PAD?

  • Law Student Membership - $70.00 (former Pre-Law members are eligible for at $10.00 discount).
  • Faculty Membership - Fees are Waived.
  • Alumni Membership - $100.00
