SMSP Covered Court
Batch ’80 is the
celebrant for this year’s Alumni Homecoming. As we mark our
silver jubilee, a free medical clinic and free fasting blood
sugar testing was conducted this morning catering to the
people of Padada.
The free fasting blood
sugar testing started at 6:00 AM through the voluntary effort
of Pamela Hernandez, who owns the PGH Clinical Laboratory in
Digos. People seeking for the service came in throve as early
as 5:30 AM, most had a history of diabetes and came just to
monitor their lifestyle induced sugar. There were also who
came unmindful of the NPO rule that did not avail the
service. Many test results showed normal but some were
elevated and were advised to religiously take their
maintenance meds and for medical check up. More than a hundred
individuals benefited from the service.
Medical check up started
at around 9:00AM and some faces from the FBS test were again
present. Our Rural Health workers came to help headed by Mrs.
Aida Alalong ,with her was a BHW and a midwife. Also doing
thier share to service were Ms. Monafe Zamora RN and Ms.
Jumowad-midwife. These people screened and took the vital
signs of the patients before they proceed to the doctors. The
early birds relished the medical skills of Dr. Mary Joan
Bersabe, the wife of Noel who works for the Center for Health
Development of the Department of Health XI. Also seeing action
where the medical couple Dr. Noel Gloria and Dr. Riza Matas
Gloria who both are medical specialist with the former as
Orthopedic and the latter dermatologists who both practiced
their craft in Digos and is patronized by the kababayans. Dr.
Maria Cecilia Cameros Sagarino left her busy schedule and took
part as a medical volunteer as well. She is specializing in
Internal Medicine. Old friends and the likes cued for her
service. Another medical practitioner, Dr. Mae Robles also
came, though not an alumna but is not a stranger to Padada
that her name is a fixture amongst the many who have seek her
medical specialty.
Forty four of the 122
patients were children ranging from infants to early teens.
Some medicines were given for free as per prescription but
other meds that are out of our pharmacy were also prescribed
for outside purchase. Unused medicines were handed over to the
Rural Health Unit and were received by Mrs. Aida Alalong in
behalf of Dr. Jonathan Sibala.
