DEVEOPER ENABLES FANS TO TRAVEL WITH POMPEY

Gunwharf Quays today handed over a cheque for £2000 to The Portsmouth Assoiation of Disabled Supporters to sponsor the groups’ minibus for the forthcoming season.

P.A.D.S. have already raised more than £10,000 for the minibus to travel to games. And now the developer of the £200m leisure and residential complex under construction at Portsmouth Harbour, has stepped in to help with their running costs for the next four years.

The sponsorship - worth £8000 - will enable 12 of the groups members to travel at a time, ensuring that some of Pompey’s most loyal supporters get a chance to travel to matches. For some, it will be their first experience of an away match.

Peter Houghton, chairman of PADS, said: “This generous donation has made it possible for more of our growing band of members to enjoy away matches. Before we had this vehicle it was impossible to watch games away from home.

Now, everything has changed and we all look forward to cheering on our team at matches all over the country over the next few years.”

Richard Thomas, project director of Gunwharf Quays, said : “We are keen supporters of Pompey and we are pleased to help. We hope our contribution will help as many PADS members as possible to go to away matches and that their vocal support will lift Pompey to greater heights.”
