A Lover's Quarrel

Philosophy
I used to believe in love's might,
unscrupulous unparalleled;
Worthy of death or a fist fight,
but a good-bye seems very well;

A minuet fracture will increase,
till the whole crystal is broken;
While I thought love could make that cease,
surprise, I have been awoken;

Love, like all rules, has exceptions,
differing thoughts are a child's way;
How eager to cause deceptions,
politicians do as they may;

Love people as you love yourself,
and be quick with that forty-five;
I had lived in and of herself,
how I wasted trying to strive;

Nothing last forever they say,
no stars, no lives, no truth, no lies;
Why does love have to be that way?
Because like everything else, it dies.
