This is all made in PSP7 without any outside filters.
Open new image .. 300/300 16 million, transparent
I don't say it here, because I have a bad habit of not doing it .. but SAVE OFTEN in psp format:)You need to download this ZIP file. It contains the basering and the cameo used in this tutorial. The base ring is completly hand drawn and in psp format. The cameo is not hand drawn as I had a hard enough time just doing the base ring:) Both are in psp format so bring them up in PSP and let them stay there until called for in the tutorial. Once they are used then you can close or minimize them.
NOTE!!!! VERY IMPORTANT .. I had several complaints that the basering used for this tutorial had to many jagged points. So I completetly re-made it, problem was I did not make it in yellow, so this tutorial will show in yellow but you will be working with the color that the base ring is that you downloaded.
Click on the window for the basering, go to EDIT, COPY, now go back to your NEW IMAGE and go to EDIT, PASTE paste it as a NEW LAYER into your new image. It will center itself into the center of the picture. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT do not move it after it has pasted in, if you do the settings that I give for the layers and pieces later on will not line up:(
Now working in your new image only, go to EFFECTS, TEXTURE, SCULPTURE, choose the gold preset and set it to these settings.
Size 25, Smoothness 15, Depth 5, Ambiance 5, Shininess 50
Color white, Angle 315, Intensity 30, Elevation 56
Back to the Tutorial:) we were here:)Before you start the next section READ this. I have had many
emails from people that do not understand the "Start Selection at"
Points that I give. SO here is a little picture of where you will find
the numbers to watch. If you run your mouse across you "window"
then you will see numbers moving in the lower left hand corner of
the PSP screen. Your "Window" is like a grid. where 1,1 is at the
top left hand corner and (IF your window is 300,300) then 300,300
would be your lower right hand corner. So just like the stock market
watch those numbers:)
Now you have this but it is a little larger:)
Deselect
Make new layer. With the pre shape set to Ellipse, line width 3, Antialias is CHECKED Foreground color is FFFFC0, backgournd is turned off, textures are off. Start at 15,15 and take it to 30,35
Go effects, texture, sculpture and use the same settings as before (it should still be there, if not then reset it as above)
Use mover tool and take it to the basering, barely touch the ring with it and then move that layer down (layers, arrange, send to bottom)
Go to layers, merge, merge visible
Add new layer. Pre shapes, no checks, line width at 12 (ellipse) It should still be the color (light yellow) FFFFC0. Antialias is CHECKED
Start at 92,31 to 208, 193 .. whew! getting that right is just about the hardest part:)
Go to effects, texture, sculpture and use the same settings for your gold that you have before. Hit OK.
This is what you have now:)
Go to Effects, Illumination, Sunburst and set like this.
LEFT SIDE!! Color white, Density 78, Brightness 50,

With the magic wand, click on the inside of the pendent.

Click on your Filler Can. click foreground to
make it white (FFFFFF) click ok ..
Click on the background color and set to EEEAEA.
Click on the Second texture buttons arrow, set to
texture, then click on the texture and set it to footpath.
These are right under your color pallet.
The top one is your line color or foreground color
The Second one is your fill color or background color
The Third one is your texture for the Top one
The Forth one is the texture for the Second one.
EXAMPLE ONLY!!!! DO NOT USE THESE SETTINGS they are for an explanation of what the tools do only!!

If you click that little lock button then your settings will stay the way you have then instead of changing for darn near every tool:) Drove me nuts, I would set what I wanted and then pick my fill can and they would be gone .. silly me:) |
![]() |
If you what your background or fill to have a texture then you would click on the little arrow, see it, it is small and black, that will give you a choice of texture or no texture. |
![]() |
One your first and Second button you have these choices, remember top is fore ground and second is background. The choices are PAINT, GRADIENT, IMAGE, or NONE. After making your choice then click on the larger button. In this example I would click on the "GREEN" color and then it will open the LARGE color pallet and I can choose what color I want or enter the color I want. |
NOW .. back to the tutorial:)
Now left click, then right click, inside the marching ants.
Now copy and paste as new layer your Cameo into your picture
Use your magic wand tolerance set to 100 and click on the Cameo. Go to Effects, Illumination, Sunburst, with these settings.
Then go to effects, 3D, drop Shadow ... Color at Black, Vertical at 1, Horizontal at 4, Opacity at 35, Blur at 5.9 .. click OK
Deselect and merge visible.
Now zoom in 1 .. you will be working in this area.
Make a new layer (make sure it is on top)
Choose your line tool, set at Single line, width 4, foreground color to FFFFC0
Start at 85, 108 go to 85, 132
Select it with your magic wand. Go effects, texture, sculpture and use same settings as before OK
Merge visible
Deselect, go back to normal view. There is your Locket, the tutorial is finished but you can do many things with it now.
