SIBERIAN HUSKY - THE BREED
Well, you wanted to know a little
bit about us?
Situated in a rural area in Iowa
on an acreage with evergreens sits a small kennel with a very selective
and limited breeding program. I have been blessed
with these wonderful dogs for well over 12 years. I have made some
very, very special friends who enjoyed the same hobbies I enjoy.
I have shown and educated people with programs. Having friends who
enjoy the same thing like Siberian Huskies doing everything they like to
do from showing in conformation, agility, obedience and therapy work to
the most rewarding part of helping the breed which is rescue referral.
I have met so many friends this way and have been able to see so many new
places, states and even countries. Breeding is not the primary
goal with our kennel as I may go years at a time without a litter.
The goal if and when breeding is genetically health guarenteed, wonderful
sweet temperaments which are outgoing, fitting the standard but most importantly
a pet for any family. Most importantly, the typical Siberian Husky
who desires to be loved and to be a good (if not challenging) family member
with it's human pack!
I
am gladly owned and loved by the Pair-A-Dice Siberian Husky pack and enjoy
showing and presenting educational programs to preschools, elementary/junior
high schools, nursing homes, senior centers and daycares with a special
love for Library programs in my spare time. I love each Siberian
Husky that lives here (whether it be for for it's lifetime or just passing
through as a rescue). This relationship either with me or their new
owners will hopefully last 12-18 years between this pet and its owner.
Please visit each of my family members, as I am very proud of these special
dogs, as well as being my wonderful pets.
I am a Children's Librarian at
a public library. I have loved this job almost as long as I've enjoyed
the first pack member Sheebba Rhea. I have fun at home or at work.
I work 3/4 time and am able to present programs to the
different organizations on my
days off. Over
the years, traveling with the dogs I even occasionally been able to say
they've won. You will notice a few have the Champion titles from
the USA, as well as, Canada in front of their names. I have been
a proud member of the International Siberian Husky Club and the Siberian
Husky Club of America for a few years. One difference that I hold
dear from other breeders is that I grow very attached to any member of
our home including my two indoor cats (Squirt & Dweeb) who have shared
my life for many, many years and co-exist with my Siberian Huskies.
Even though not all the dogs may not be show dogs, they are spayed/neutered
and live out their natural lives with the family.
I
heard a statement over 10 years ago and have truly thought it was the true
meaning of a breeder. "If you don't rescue - Don't breed!"
Keep in mind that 1/3 of our dogs are spayed or neutered. I
do not feel that all dogs need to be bred even if they earn their Championship,
OFA, or eye check (and since I do very limited breeding) I would rather
spay/neuter them and let them live out their lives without having to worry
about hormones running their lives. They all are housebroke (some
prefer it more than others) so that they can come into the home and spend
time.
So..... my life is full........friends,
family, a fun job and wonderful family pack to share my life.
