The Adventures of Paisley
Blue

I
have just come off of a long work stint. Saturday I worked 12
hours, followed by 8 more hours yesterday. Too many hours.
Still, I had a lot of fun, especially on Saturday when I feel
like somehow I was unofficially initiated into a group of
fun-loving cool folks. We played Truth or Dare, talked,
laughed, and generally had a great time - all while getting
our work done.
I spoke with a nice lady about setting
up a website for her and a friend of hers, who are artists.
She is a photographer, and he has done murals and continues to
paint when he can. They would love to try their hands at
e-commerce but need help with the technical ends of building a
website and such. I am very interested in helping them get
online and if it is a prosperous arrangement, all the better.
It just sounds like a very fun, interesting project to get
into, and so I intend to pursue it.
Speaking of fun
and interesting projects, I had a chance to learn a little
about the behind the scenes processes at work. I discovered
there is a real need for a programmer there. No one in the
Seattle office knows C+ or any other programming languages,
putting us at a disadvantage for fulfilling our potential.
They are being creative in finding ways to work around it, but
a real programmer would solve a lot of issues. So... I've
decided to try my hand at learning the language of
programming. Who knows where this interest might lead? This is
certainly one career field that has more work than workers,
and the world is the programmer's oyster. Now that I've
developed a burning curiosity about it, who knows how far I
can go?
But first I am going to complete the article
I've been researching on Winter Solstice and Yule
celebrations. I want to write an article about the origins of
Santa Claus, and include some original ideas for witches and
pagans who want to start their own holiday traditions. If I
can get it published, that would rock. Afterwards, I have been
thinking about publishing it on my website in the Magick and
Pagan Reference Center. So many things I want to do... and
only 24 hours in each day.
CB is doing much better,
and has found a cool job working with a movie production crew.
He has met Drew Barrymore, which seems to be the highlight of
his days there so far. I'd like to be a little fairy in his
pocket the day that Brad Pitt gets to the movie set. I can't
wait to find out what movie they are filming. This is beyond
cool, in my opinion. It downright rocks.
Our building
manager is organizing a Thanksgiving Dinner for all the
residents. We have offered to bring a green salad. That's
something that is hard to mess up. When originally asked what
my cooking specialty was, I responded, "Well, once I did make
a tuna aspic." My husband and the manager immediately erupted
into laughter, and I was clueless. Finally the manager told me
that there's no way he'd eat something called "asss-pick" --
think of the connotations. They teased me mercilessly. I told
them this was a dish made with gelatin put into a mold, but
they didn't give me any slack. When I finally realized the
joke, I laughed so hard I could barely walk.
The
manager always calls me "Miss Arkansas," which I like. He
occasionally teases me about my accent, but the longer I work
here, and especially the longer I do sales of tickets over the
phone, that accent is fading. However, my husband and the
manager seem sure I'll always have a bit of a Southern accent.
That's alright - I like being a Southern Belle. Well,
that's all I've got for today. Be good kiddies.
