THWART INDIAN MOVES, CHIEF EXECUTIVE ASKS PAKISTANI AMERICANS.
Islamabad: Chief Executive Gen. Pervez Musharraf has urged the American-based Pakistanis to exploit all of their resources to woo the United States congressmen that Pakistan is a peace loving country and has nothing to do with terrorism.
Talking to Dr Riaz Ahmad, Chairman Pakistani American Congress who called on him here the other day, Musharrraf said only early settlement of Kashmir problem could guarantee peace in the region. He pointed out the vast majority of population in occupied valley is oppressed.
About Pakistan?s relations with neighboring countries, Musharraf said the government was making sincere efforts to develop brotherly relations with its neighbors. "Our relations with Iran has been restored as the volume of trade with Iran has increased considerably".
He regretted over the propaganda by the West against Afghanistan and said one should know that crime rate in Afghanistan was very low as compared to other countries. He said Pakistan government wanted peace in Afghanistan but could not force it for anything.
When Dr.Riaz informed Gen. Pervez Musharraf that American Pakistanis were willing to invest in government projects, he (Musharraf) said the government would welcome it and provide full protection to their investment here. He also assured the government would not freeze the foreign currency accounts as the previous government did.--PPI
