University of Pittsburg chess archives. Huge, and lots of chess games
and software available. Seems to be going unmaintained. The chess software
available here is quite old. However, the game collection is superb.
University of pittsburgh chess
The Exeter Chess club. A huge Chess resource. Houses a Lot of chess
tutorials, games, and problems. It is also possible to download it all from
their ftp as a 19Mb (Duh!) file.
Chess Coaching
Lots of winboard compatible chess engines available for download here. There is detailed
information about even more of them. And of course, there is a chess engine tournament
always running here. If you want chess programs, this is the site to visit!

Tim mann's Chess page. The author of Xboard/winboard, a program that allows
two chess programs to play each other or a player vs chess program match and
so on. You get the idea.

Homepage of Arena. Arena is similar to Winboard, only its better. Unfortunately, Arena
is available only on Windows(Boo!).
Play with arena
Crafty is the strongest freeware chess program available. It is compatible
with winboard/Xboard. It was written by Dr. Hyatt. Both the program and its
source code are available at Dr. Hyatt's homepage.

Phalanx is a chess engine written by Dusan Dobes. It is tactically very strong, but lacks
somewhat in positional play. Phalanx is free & source code is available.

An excellent website where you can find chess software, utility programs for chess, such
as programs for manipulating pgn files, and free chess fonts. Most of the software here is
free.

Gambitsoft is a company which is in the business of chess related equipment. On
their site there is a big collection of freeware and shareware chess
