About Liberia Group 23 |
Liberia 23 was a group of secondary and university education Peace Corps volunteers. For 50 of us, our training began in November 1970 on St. Croix, Virgin Islands. For 13, our training started at Texas Southern University in Houston. We all met in Mobile, Alabama and on January 1, 1971, flew to Liberia, West Africa, for in-country training. We swore in the second week of February and dispersed through out Liberia to begin our teaching assignments. While we maintained individual friendships with other members when in Liberia, we never again met as a group. This web site is a place where we can once again get together, exchange stories and find out what has happened the last 30 years. Whether you are a Group 23 member, a returned Peace Corps volunteer who served in Liberia or just wandered into this site, we welcome you to our cyber-reunion. |
