July 2005 Reunion
On July 9, 2005, Steve, Catherine, Dennis and Sheila met at Woody and Janice's home in Aberdeen Maryland. Catherine came up from Virginia with her husband, Richard. Sheila's husband Ken also came in from California. He was a PCV in Liberia arriving with group 32. Steve came from Minnesota with his friend Catherine. Dennis came down from Massachusetts.
Pictures of our reunion can be seen below. A larger picture can be obtained by clicking the thumbnail picture.
As you can see above, Janice and Woody even planned for rain, by having a large tent. Luckily for us, the weather was beautiful. We were part of their family reunion and got to meet lots of friendly aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Their son, Benji, who, as a two year old, was also in Liberia with us, was able to stop in for a while.
We ate hot dogs and hamburgers, sausages, and lots of crab. We had salads and desserts of every possible type. Catherine made some outstanding lemon pies.
We heard from several unable to attend: John who was bicycling across the United States, Janet who was busy at her book store and James and Kathleen who sent an update letter.
We had two RPCVs from the Philippines and Eastern Caribbean who were able to join us for a while. They joined us in encouraging another visitor, a prospective volunteer. Do you think we discouraged her when we got to the tales of killing cockroaches by throwing our wooden shoes at them?
In the fourth picture above, you can see us squinting at some slides. We were looking at slides that Steve took during our training, 35 years ago. I have tired to reproduce them here. If you see any that you think are backwards, let me know and I will reverse the image. Again, a larger picture can be obtained by clicking the thumbnail picture.
