When you're a kid a week seems like a month, a month seems like a year, and a year seems like eternity. However when you get old(er) time goes by in the blink of an eye. I find it hard to believe it's already August. Soon the snowbirds will be back and the lines everywhere will get longer. But the humidity will decrease and the temeratures will get to a tollerable range.
My Mom and I had gone for a ride tonight. We were talking about this new restaurant we've found that's really good. They have several different locations although we seem to go to the one farthest from our home. She asked me if maybe the one closer to home would be better. But I informed her it was not in the best of neighborhoods. She said, "I guess we better not go to that one then. I'd hate like hell to get to be my age only to die by a gun shot wound." I said to her, "yeah, that'd really piss you off huh?" She laughed. (lol)
I'm really fortunate to have my Mom...for so many reasons. But the main reason is she's my best friend. We enjoy each others company, we enjoy doing the same things, and she's fun to be with. Not like most 81 year olds for sure! Everyone in the family agrees she doesn't grow old gracefully. (lol)
Yesterday would have been my Father's 82 birthday, had he lived. It definitely seems like a lifetime ago that he died. Nineteen years to be exact. Twenty years March 7th of 2006. So much has happend, and so much has changed since he's been gone. My Mom always measures time "before the war" and "After the war." "The war" being World War 2 of course. I find I measure time, "before Dad died" and "after Dad Died."

This has been an interesting week. I've met my twin! (lol) At least it seems that way. I was in the Zone the other night playing spades when I came across this woman. We started chatting as we played cards. Within a few minutes I found out that we lived near each other, we shared the same birthday, a few days apart. Last night I talked to her on the phone (for 2 hours) and found out that we also share FMS,(Fibromyalgia Syndrome) It's almost eerie how much we seem to have in common. Divorced, childless, on and on. Finding her has been a real plus in my life. I look forward to the day when we meet. The world is a lonely place without friends and laughter!
