According to local information the current bluestone church was built on this site in 1864. It replaced a wooden structure that had previously been erected in 1859. One of the noticable features are the stained glass windows that were the work of William Montgomery.
The bluestone church was not completed until 1929 and the tower was eventually consecrated in 1941.
