The Poetry Webring: A Fun Concept. Instead of having a links page, the Poetry Webring is a direct link from one page to another. Anyone can join up, and it simply requires adding a small logo to your page. You can hook directly to the Poetry Webring from http://www.soos.com/poetpark. It's still small (only 6 or 7 pages so far have joined), but the concept is one worth adding to your poetry pages. The RingMaster is Carol Close, (cclose@academy.net.au). Many kudos due!

Review:
"About A Year" by Ruth Daigon. $3.00 from Small
Poetry Press (362 Odin Place, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523). This new offering from
Ruth is a joy. Writing about seasons of a year will typically lend a hand to
cliche filled writing. While we read a few cliches sprinkled through these "civilized
ripples", they are there only for effect. To bring the familiar back around
when my mind starts to wander into the well crafted music:
At the first sunprobe, small deaths
surface. Winter's custs and slashes
heal at the slightest sign of green,
fertility's the width of a dirt-
stained thumb, and light gleams
on earth's wet spine.
While I miss Ruth's keen observations of people that made her book, Between One Future And The Next, important; I also enjoy the pastoral effect of this poem/book. In "Wet World" (94), we heard the poet saying : "I move by touch alone,/ feel the water pour its meaning/through my hands, and know/exactly who I am." In this new work, we hear the poet in a winter scene grasping a bit beyond knowledge: "I watch the grass grow blades/of ice and my reflection in the window/like a star that sees beyond it's own light/for the first time."
Question: Hey there! Can anyone tell me where I can find poetry specifically about Best Friends? I am putting a collection together for my best friend who is moving to Winnepeg (from BC) and I am looking for contributions to this. If anyone can help me, please E mail your stuff! colleen mckay spiritrider@cyberlink.bc.ca
News:
SLATE, the new web magazine from Microsoft includes poetry with each issue. Worth checking out. CK Williams has a decent stab at denying a personal afterlife in the current issue.
On October 19th, I will be doing a reading w/Lyn Lifshin in Washington, DC @ Rick Peabody's (GARGOYLE fame) bookstore.. The event will be filmed by Blair Ewing for later showing on his cable show.. I'll post time & address as I get them... But, thought maybe someone might be interested enough to plan ahead.
Just a little note, There are many poetry channels on the UnderNet (IRC). #Poetrys, #Poets, #Poetica.... Speaking for #Poetry, we're nearly one year old and doing great, come on in to read or listen (but watch out for readings in progress!) Hope to see you there! --GriffJon (Jon Camfield) vis_jmc@unx1.shsu.edu

Error:
Well, not quite. This situation was one where I was
expected to be God and simply "know" that people had moved their
pages. Anyway, this was not sent as an announcement, but as a complaint, so it
fits best in the error department:
The link you have listed for JJ Webb is incorrect. I am no longer associated with art.net. As well, you have an a listing for "The Hawk" that is incorrect (there's another The Hawk listed [no quotation marks], that is correct). Sorry to always appear to be complaining. I appreciate the links ... it's just that I'd like it if they actually directed people to the poetry. JJWebb http://www.cruzio.com/arts/lib/poet/jjwebb/jjwebb.html & http://www.cruzio.com/~hawk/
