on Compact Disc Paul Paray's Mass for the 500th Anniversary of the Death of Joan of Arc is his best-know work, with three recordings on compact disc (all three currently available) It is only one of a body which includes compositions for piano, chamber ensembles, voice, chorus and orchestra. Slowly this music, strongly reminsicent of that of Ernest Chasussn, is making its way to the public. The discs at left were recorded at Assumption
Grotto parish in Detroit, MI under the direction of pastor and Paray
expert the Rev. Eduard Peronne. They may be ordered for $13 (plus
postage) from:
Reference Recordings RR-78 and Paray's Mercury recording of his Mass
remain in the catalog, if not in most record stores' stock. They
will probably have to be ordered. It is possible to buy directly
from Reference Recordings at http://www.referencerecordings.com/
