Barefoot

across your hot coals
my bare toes raked
bore the blister
scorched the soul
barefoot.

On a bed of nails
you made me wait
felt the pain
wore the blood
pierced.

On a thin wire
I trod with clumsy feet
forgot my fear
undid the height.
unveiled.

By your rusty rails
I rode night and day
wild horses of steel
bleeding kneel
delayed.

Across water I
could walk for you
drowned for you
drowned with you
drowned in you
water scars
on my
bare feet.
